Barbara Jeanne Piper was born February 9, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the loving union of Melvin Jerome Piper and Clara Rubye Johnson. She attended Elementary and High School in the Chicago Public School System and for a short stint attended DePaul University. She married John Scott and two boys were born to this union. After her divorce she later married Larry Green after she and her boys, Philip and John transplanted to Boston.
Barbara and Larry raised their boys in Dorchester, Massachusetts until Larry’s passing in March 2009. She retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts after several years of working for the Sheriff of Suffolk County. She was also an administrative executive for many other companies.
Barbara moved to St. Louis, Missouri to be closer to Philip, her oldest son. She was a well-loved and strong woman who is often remembered for reading the Christian Science Bible Lessons on television, acting as a soloist and reader in her church and volunteering to sing to inmates in jail. She loved baking and cooking delicious food. Most importantly she was a lover of hippos and bunnies. She was one of the best moms in the entire world.
Barbara departed this life on Friday, June 24, 2022 and leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons Philip and John, six grandchildren, step mother, Nedra Piper; brother, Lionel; niece and many cousins and friends
